The aim of the programme is such as to provide students a professional qualification, which may be used to prepare directly for a career in business, to gain advanced entry to study for further professional qualifications.

The nature of the programme is such as to provide students with not only appreciation of the theoretical issues involved in the study of business, but with a range of practical skills which will enhance their value to potential employers. The subjects are then developed in an increasingly applied way as the programme proceeds, covering the major functional specialisms of business and culminating in a range of overview subjects, which provide broad strategic and international perspectives on business and management issues.

 
  At the end of the programme, the candidate should be able to:  
 
Structure complex strategic problems and propose logical solutions
Understand organisation principles and design, influences and differences in style and structure, comparative analysis, and the wider aspects of the organisation environment.

1 ADBA 101: Corporate Strategy    
Course Description  

The aim of this module is to structure complex strategic problems and propose logical solutions, apply the full range of techniques and concepts available to the contemporary corporate planner, analyse, assess and choose between strategic alternatives, understand the financial, human and organisational issues which affect the successful development and implementation of corporate strategies and plans, incorporate contemporary issues and developments affecting organisations into corporate plans and assess the impact and implications of international and global issues on the corporate strategic planning process.

Topics covered in this module are Introduction to corporate strategy, strategic analysis, strategic development, strategic direction, strategic evaluation, implementation and control, managing strategic change, Issues and developments in modern corporate strategy.

 

 

 

 

2 ADBA 102: Management Organisation    
Course Description  

The aim of this module is to understand organisation principles and design, influences and differences in style and structure, comparative analysis and the wider aspects of the organisation environment, understand organisation theories and relevance and their interpretation within the operational context of organisations, understand the nature and purpose of organisation goals and how they are integrated into organisational activity, organisation processes and controls, understand the impetus for organisation change, change as an integral part of the organisation system, the process of planned change and to understand the organisation development and processes, the nature of organisational effectiveness and the criteria for evaluating success.

Topics covered in this module are the development of organisational theory, context of organisations, organisational directions, organisational structure and design, authority and decision-making, developing organisational effectiveness, organisational change and development, responsibility and stake holders.

3 ADBA 103: International Business    
Course Description  

The aim of this module is to appreciate that many businesses are no longer operating in the domestic local environment, develop a sense of urgency that tremendous opportunities exist to develop business if companies can change their mind-sets from domestic to international dimensions, acquire the expertise to develop strategies for international expansion and in so doing to understand how to deal successfully with a range of business issues at an international level.

Topics include importance and nature of international business, understanding the world-trading environment, international trade, international business environment, consumer behaviour, international marketing research and analysis, international business and marketing strategies, organisational structures, market entry strategies, product management, pricing policy, promotion policy, international distribution and logistics, extended marketing mix, implementation, evaluation and control, Finance and international business, risk and international business.

 

 

 

 

4 ADBA 104: Corporate Finance    
Course Description    

The aim of this module is to understand the application of capital budgeting and investment appraisal techniques applied to complex situations, understand the financing decision and the uses and limitations of the weighted average cost of capital, the modigliani miller proposition and optimal capital structures, understand the portfolio approach to risk and uncertainty and the relationship between risk and return, understand the issues surrounding dividend and distribution policies, demonstrate a knowledge of various business valuation techniques and to understand the problems associated with foreign exchange management.

Topics include the context of corporate finance, company performance, valuation and failure, acquisitions and mergers, financial markets, sources of company finance, cost of finance, portfolio theory and market efficiency, capital asset pricing model, capital structure, corporate dividend policy, working capital and short-term asset management, capital investment decision, managing exposure to risk, international trade and finance.

 

 

 

 

5 ADBA 105: Strategic Marketing    
Course Description    

The aim of this module is to examine the broad concepts of marketing strategy and planning, develop a deeper understanding of the processes of strategy development and marketing planning, understand the process of strategy development, examine and apply the core concepts and techniques for operationalising marketing strategy, particularly the elements of the marketing mix, develop a deeper understanding of the integration and application of the marketing mix variables and their impact on other functions within an enterprise and to apply and implement strategic marketing plans.

Topics include planning and strategy, marketing function, objectives and strategy, marketing and strategic choice, analysing the marketing environment, marketing information, auditing the marketing mix, consumer markets and consumer behaviour, marketing planning, marketing implementation and control, product management and development, branding and brand management, the promotional mix, direct marketing, distribution channel management, pricing policies and price settings.

 

 

 

 

  Mode of Delivery  
  The programme is conducted in both full-time (6 months) and part-time (6 months) in a conducive and well-equipped classroom environment. The program gives students a full 390 hours combined instruction with case studies, real life examples throughout the program. Lessons are taught by MOE approved lecturers with study materials and courseware provided. An internal library is also available for referencing and research purposes.
  Method of Assessment & Award  
  The programme consists of 5 modules. Upon successful completion of the 5 modules (written exam papers), students will receive Advance Diploma in Business Administration awarded by The Association of Business Executives (ABE), U.K.  
  Entry Requirements  
 
  The Advance Diploma in Business Administration is designed for individuals who are keen in learning about business concepts, accounting, quantitative methods and business communication skills. Following are the entry requirements for this programme:
 
  ABE Diploma in Business Administration
  A degree, awarded by a recognised UK or overseas University
  Other recognised qualifications of approved overseas Institutions of Higher Education.

  Graduates are eligible into admission to Final year degree in Business Administration or Business Management or equivalent qualifications, offered by 70 over universities from UK, USA, Australia etc.,
